[column grid=”2″ span=”1″]1936 was the second year for the major redesigned bodies of 1935.
Differences were minor in trim and external appearances. The front grille was
given a five degree slant from vertical in a streamlining attempt. Sales were
slightly down for 1936 in the Standard 8 as the dealers were concentrating their
efforts on the junior 120 line which sold 34,729 cars in 1936, up from 1935 by
almost 10,000 units. Overall, Packard made a good profit as an independent
for 1936 showing $7 million in profit.
